New JSNA Bitesize on unemployment to September 2020
A new JSNA Bitesize is now available showing the change in unemployment data for Oxfordshire up to September 2020.
As of September 2020 there was a total of 17,720 claimants of unemployment benefits in Oxfordshire. This was 225 above the previous month (17,495 in August 2020).
This was equivalent to a rate of 4.1% (per population aged 16-64) in September 2020, below the England average (6.6%) and highest in Oxford (4.6%), Cherwell (4.4%) and West Oxfordshire (3.9%) districts.
As of 31 July 2020, there were 103,000 employed people in Oxfordshire supported by the Coronavirus Retention Scheme (furlough). The take up rate, of eligible employments, in the county was 29%, just under the regional and national averages (30% across the South East and 32% in England).
